The story of this film will take cinegoers on joyous journey into the sphere of modern Western living, and to the most exotic cities of the old and the new world, before it returns to the feudal atmosphere that prevails in the former Indian princely states even today.

Dilip is returning home to India from Europe abroad a luxury liner, and he receives an interesting and lucrative offer from a rich elderly Indian passenger. The old man fears that his beautiful daughter, Reeta, will get off the steamer at the first port of call, as the strong-willed and hot-headed girl is in no mood to go back India. More for fun than money, Dilip agrees to keep an eye on the errant girl, without realising that she would lead him a merry chase half way around the world.

Nothing is more cosy, more romantic, more intimate than the narrow confines of a rubber dinghy on the high seas, and this is one of the situations in which Dilip and Reena find themselves. The result is a foregone conclusion.... passionate love! And now Reeta, considerably sobered down, looks forward to her return to India with radiant happiness. But the storm clouds are already gathering on the horizon.

Reeta is betrothed to Uday Singh, the name that Dilip hated, for he is the man who has deprived Dilip of his rightful inheritance, and turns him out to be a wanderer and a nomad. The wicked Uday Singh has killed Dilip's elder brother, and has proclaimed himself the ruler of the state, little imagining that one day Dilip and retribution would return.

Uday Singh does not know that this man called Dilip is really Naresh, his arch-enemy, and takes the disastrous step of getting Dilip to impersonate Naresh so that Uday Singh may further his evil plans. Uday Singh gets Mohini, the girl he is in love with, to keep a check on Dilip, but Mohini herself succumbs to the attraction of this handsome man to an extent that she reveals all details of what Uday Singh wishes to achieve, and thus the stage is set for soul-searing drama, and dynamic action.

How Dilip defeats all of Uday Singh's machinations and how he finally wins the hand of Reeta are revealed upon the screen, as the story's climax erupts in a riot of colour and music.
