Lost in the enjoyment of his favourite sport of fishing on a pleasant sunny afternoon, little could Rajesh have foreseen the astounding chain of events that were about to hold sway over his emotions and to become part and parcel of his own life.

The girl was Neela. She was determined to put an end to her miserable existence, and had not Rajesh seen her from the lakeside, she would surely have succeeded. Rajesh was a lawyer, and his legal brain began to trouble him. Had he really saved the girl's life, or merely managed to postpone her decision to kill herself? But before he could think of the future, Rajesh had first to learn of the past, for it was the past that held Neela's secrets so closely.

It was the past that knew of the terrible events that took place in Neela's life on a dark night, events that transformed a happy young girl into a desperate fugitive. With ruthless efficiency, Rajesh began to delve back into the past till he, too, shared the secrets of that terrible night.

As the turmoil of the grim past mingled with the emotions of the future, Rajesh and Neela found themselves trapped in a whirlpool of truths and half truths. How the brilliant young lawyer separated these truths from less obvioushalf truths and steered the story to an absolutely electrifying climax marks "BaatEkRaat Ki" the most thrilling experience in sheer suspense that the silver screen has ever known.
