Of the many luminaries who have defined cinema, we often remember only the stars and directors, forgetting the labour of those who worked painstakingly behind the scenes to create the films. Of them, the name of Ramananda Sengupta towers above all. A master cinematographer, adept at playing with light and shadow, his journey from growing up in Shantiniketan, to becoming one of the founders of the Technicians' Studio is a fascinating one. Cinemaazi sits down with his daughter Nandini Sengupta-Chakraborty who reminisces about her father's career and outlook on life.
