“LAJWANTI” portrays a common problem- “MARRIED UNHAPPINESS”. Nirmal Kumar is a successful and flourishing advocate. He has all the material comforts of life which money can buy but Nirmal’s wife Kavita mother of a small child Renu, is not happy in her fabulously furnished house. She is greatly missing the love, affection and companionship of her husband. Nirmal Kumar’s most of the time is spent in his professional activities and is completely ignorant of the emotional need of his wife.

From this state of affairs flow many emotional conflicts. Sunil an intimate friend of Nirmal and Kavita from their college days, returns from England. But unfortunately his moving about with Kavita is misunderstood by malicious and narrow-minded people and ultimately the gossip sweeps the household and eventually Nirmal Kumar, blind with suspicious and doubts, turns his wife out, separating her from her child also.

Long ten years passed away when the repentant husband quite suddenly finds his wife still alive, and is filled with abounding joy. He thinks that his life has been enriched, and that his motherless child has got a mother. But nature had still more calamities in store for Kavita. Could patience and forbearance bring her happiness? Did Renu get her mother? See it on screen.
