The union of Ram and Sita had all the appearance of being an ideal one. He was rich, handsome, accomplished-an ideal husband. She was modest, virtuous, beautiful-an ideal wife.

However, a dark cloud of dismal destiny descended over their marital bliss and their happy home seemed on the verge of going up in flames. Ram discovered that Sita was leading a double life-leaving her bed at the dead of night to keep some secret tryst!

Where was she going? What compelling summons was she obeying?  Did she know that she was being watched and that the very gates of hell   were opening for her?

When confronted with her perfidy Sita stoutly denied knowing any   man other than her husband. She had made no midnight sortie, met no   one!

Here was a difficult dilemma. Whom was Ram to believe...... the evidence of his own eyes or his wife's manifestly sincere protestations of innocence?

I t was not until she sneaked out of a railway train and he followed  her into the ruins of Rang Mahal that Ram was able to solve the harrowing mystery. And the solution that stared him in the face was as startling as it was simple and logical.
