To escape Dr. Puri's well meaning but irksome, persistent efforts, Ravi decides to go to Darjeeling. where he had his ancestral bungalow 'Mount View.'

The bungalow ' Mount View', however, has now turned into ' Hotel Mount View' and its caretaker Hanuman Singh (Jagdeep) has been posing as the owner.

A professor of Botany Miss Aarti Mathur (Shabana Azmi ) is staying there with her girl students. Then circumstances take a strange turn and Ravi and Aarti are thrown together. As the two come nearer, the mutual sympathy and understanding mature into love.
