The story is simple. Two goofy cops Arjun Singh (Amitabh) and Pyare Mohan (Govinda) and one zany police commissioner (Anupam Kher) are determined to get Paresh Rawal - a mad cap criminal who shoots before he thinks. The plot get more frenzied when the strait laced Arjun Singh pretends to be the flirtatious Pyare in order to win the trust of a pretty girl (Ramya), who is the only witness in a murder case involving Paresh Rawal. Meanwhile, Pyare, too becomes a shameless house guest in Arjun's house and happily romances his sister (Raveena).
And then from out of the blue appear Bade Miyan Chote Miyan - two thieves who look exactly like out two bumbling cops. And the situation goes total haywire.
The two thieves catch on fast and before long you have two sets of policeman - one asli trying to prevent the crime, the other naqli - getting away with crime. There's total mayhem as poor Arjun and Pyare go red in the face trying to proclaim their innocence. Naturally nobody believes them and before long Arujun and Pyare are suspended for crime they did not commit.
A laugh riot from beginning to end, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan showcases Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda in out and out comedy roles as never before. After a long, long time you have a clean comedy that has it all action, romance, crazy capers and Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda in double roles ! What more could you want ?
A second, third or maybe fourth helping of his delicious treat called Bade Miyan Chote Miyan perhaps !
