R C Talwar
- Born: 21 April, 1910 (Talagang, West Punjab, British India)
Director, producer and writer, R C Talwar was born on 21 April, 1910 in Talagang, West Punjab, in what is currently Pakistan. He is known for directing films such as Pardesi Dhola (1941), Manorama-starrer Manchali (1943), Albeli (1945) which starred Hiralal and Usha, the Suraiya-Ashok Kumar film Khiladi (1950), Sangdil (1952), Ilzam (1954) featuring Meena Kumari and Kishore Kumar, Rukhsana (1955), Mem Sahib (1956), Raj Kapoor-Waheeda Rehman starrer Ek Dil Sau Afsane (1963), and Naya Kanoon (1965) featuring Ashok Kumar, Vyjayanthimala and Bharat Bhooshan.
R C Talwar is also credited with producing the Meena Kumari and Shammi Kapoor starrer Mem Sahib, as well as Madhubala-Dilip Kumar starrer Sangdil. Sangdil was a loose adaptation of Charlotte Bronte's classic, Jane Eyre. Incidentally, actor-wrestler Dara Singh had also made his debut with R C Talwar’s Sangdil.
R C Talwar also penned the screenplay of Mem Sahib. The film revolved around the story of a wealthy woman who chooses her own mate and refuses to marry the man chosen by her deceased father. The film had dialogues penned by J S Casshyap, and Ramanand Sagar.
