Kothamangalam Subbu, was a noted Padma Shri award winning poet, lyricist, writer, actor and director from  Tamil Nadu who authored  the Tamil cult classic novel ‘Thillana Mohanambal’, which  was later made as an enchanting movie.  

According to novelist Ashokamitran’s memoirs, Subbu functioned as the No. 2 of the giant  Gemini Studios of Chennai, South India for over three decades and was a close associate of  movie mogul S.S. Vasan.  

Subbu also authored ‘Rao Bahadur Singaram’, ‘Bandanallur Bama’, ‘Ponnivanathu Poonguyil’,  ‘Miss Radha’ and ‘Manju Virattu’ (collection of  short stories). Subbu’s filmography includes  Kannamma En Kadhali (1945), Miss Malini  (1947), the epic film Avvaiyar (1953) and  Valliyin Selvan (1955).
