Parivaar is a story of life revolving around a diverse sect of individuals who are brought together by a set of circumstances. No one is related to the other and yet they live under one roof sharing one another's happiness and sorrow. The head of the family is Birju (Mithun Chakraborty). Into his life enters a one small boy Bitu (Master Makrand), a petite young girl Bobby (Baby Guddu), Bajrangi (the monkey) and Bahadur (the dog). The five together perform tamasha on the roads to earn their livelihood.

Into his family, very soon one new member enters, Anita (Meenakshi Seshadri), the daughter of a rich industrialist. She is married to Avinash (Shakti Kapoor) but due to the fact that her father loses his wealth, and this news is disclosed to her husband on the wedding day, she is mistreated by her in-laws. Finally, the only course open to her is suicide.

But she is saved by Bitu, Bahadur, Bobby, Bajrangi and brought home. The home that was lacking the warmth and touch of a woman's love is now filled with the presence of Anita.

But as fate would have it, Avinash (Shakti Kapoor) soon realises his folly in getting rid of his wife. His search for her leads him to the 'Parivaar'. But (Mithun) Birju proves to be a stumbling block in every attempt to kidnap (Meenakshi) Anita. In the series of one such endeavour Birju (Mithun) is seriously injured. He is fighting for his life in a city hospital. A large sum of money is required to perform a delicate operation. Anita (Meenakshi) who is an accomplished classical dancer decides to hold a dance performance to enable her to earn the required amount. In a poignant scene the Dog, Monkey, Bobby, Bitu are seen roaming the streets of the city attempting to sell the tickets.

But as luck would have it, the villains trace Anita (Meenakshi Seshadri) and shoot her just before the dance performance. Inspite of the deep wound on her leg, Anita decides to go ahead with the dance performance. On one hand the head of the family Birju is fighting for his life in the hospital. On the other Anita is injured and unable to move to take the money to the hospital. To add to this Avinash (Shakti Kapoor) and gang manage to rob the money and flee. It's upto the two young children, Bahadur and Bajrangi to get the money back and save their daddy.
