Murali (Kalyan Kumar) and Seetha (Devika) are lovers. Murali goes abroad for higher studies in Medicine. Unfortunately, in his absence, due to familial circumstances, Seetha is forced to marry another person. Murali is devastated to learn this on his return. He decides never to marry and to devote the rest of his life to a cancer hospital in research to save patients. Years roll by. One of his patients Venu (Muthuraman), is critically ill with cancer and has to be operated upon. The treatment progresses well until Murali meets Venu's wife, who is none other than Seetha. Seetha gets upset when she comes to know that the person treating Venu is her former lover Murali, whom she had left.
Though Murali gives his best treatment to Venu, she is worried that Murali might take revenge on her by not treating Venu well. Meanwhile, Venu comes to know about Murali and Seetha's past love. He calls Murali and tells him (without revealing that he knows of their love) that in case his operation fails and he dies, Murali should marry Seetha as he does not want his wife to remain a widow. Seetha gets angry about coming to know this and tells Murali clearly that if Venu dies, she will also die. Murali promises Seetha that even at the cost of his life, he will save Venu. Taking it as a challenge, Murali works hard to save Venu so that he does not get a bad name that he killed Venu to be with Seetha. He carries out a difficult operation after preparing day and night and it succeeds. Venu is cured of cancer. When the results come, Murali gets overexcited and dies of high blood pressure. He sacrifices his life for his former love and remains in the temple (hearts) of Venu and Seetha.
