This is the of a misplaced trust, of an idealist named Ajay who was determined to utilise his rich inheritance to make amends for the sins of his Zamindar ancestors.
Ajay sought the help of his cousin Sarjoo Prasad in providing essential amenities for the villagers of Sundergadh. Ajay had implicit faith in his cousin, and remitted huge sums of money to him to implement laudable schemes for road improvement, water supply, medical facilities and irrigation and was disturbed to receive anonymous letters alleging that the funds were being misused. Ajay could not believe that his own cousin could be guilty of misappropriation. He decided to go to Sundergadh and see for himself.
If fact Sarjoo Prasad was staying at the palace in Sundergadh and behaving just like the Zamindars of old. He was unprepared for Ajay's unexpected fact finding visit and hurriedly tried to cover up his evil deeds.
The stage was thus set for an imminent showdown, a clash between good and evil. Ajay helped by the simple village maiden Mala and the enlightened youth of the village rose to challenge and expose Sarjoo Prasad and his dangerous hirelings.
The story of "MERA KARAM MERA DHARAM" thus reaches an explosive climax of conflicting emotions and terrifying violence, the like of which has rarely before been portrayed on the Silver Screen.
