Suman is an educated, well cultured young lady with an embodiment of innocence and pious charm. Dolly, a girl, playing too care-free with life, is not only a collegian co-student, but also stays in the neighbourhood with her brother Vinay and parents. Vinay is deeply in mute love with Suman, but sacrifices away his golden dreams in favour of his friend Ranjit who has just returned from England and fallen in love with Suman at first sight.

Though calling himself broad-minded, Ranjit, on the wedding night bursts on Suman at her frank confession of falling 'prey' to the lust of a fellow student Inder, whom actually she hated. Scorned Suman reluctantly continues to live with her husband under the same roof with a wall of contempt between them in a hope of bring him round.

Broken and disgusted Ranjit falls easy victim to drinking. On the other hand Dolly, seduced by Inder, not only becomes mother of an illicit child, but is also compelled to sell her flesh for a little silver. Enraged Inder rushes to disgrace Suman with false pretext.... Dolly enlightens Ranjit about the piety of his wife and drives him to rescue her.

Could Ranjit timely save Suman from the disgrace? Did Suman abandon the life of insult and injury? Or did Ranjit repent for his follies? Did the misunderstanding clear up to reunite both the love-birds? Better see all the solutions on the screen.
