Trimurti Films Pvt. Ltd’s “GUPT” is a lavishly mounted murder mystery with spine chilling thrills, breath taking action and beautiful locales added with hypnotizing and haunting music.

Governor Jaisingh Sinha (Raj Babbar) is married to Shardadevi (Priya Tendulkar), a window who has a young son Sahil (Bobby Deol) from an earlier marriage. Jaisingh & Shardadevi have a son Harsh (Master Harsh Lunia), a little boy from their marriage. Sahil always has a deep hatred towards his step father despite jaisingh going all out of his way to pour his love for sahil. Shardadevi just remains a silent sufferer. But one day governer jaisingh confides in his family lawyer Thanawala (Raza Murad) and family doctor. Dr. Gandhi (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) that one day sahil will realise his step father’s love for him.

In college sahil meets his childhood sweetheart isha Dewan (Kajol) who is just back from her boarding school. Isha’s father ishwar Dewan (Paresh Rawal) is personal assistant to Governor Jaisingh, Sheetal Chaudhary (Manisha Koirala) is in the same college of Sahil and silently but madly in love with Sahil for some years though Sahil is not aware of it.

When Sheetal’s father Meghnath Chaudhary (Dalip Tahil), an ambitious, cunning business tycoon comes to know about Sheetal’s love for Sahil, he sets up a dirty plan which misguides Governor Jaisingh and Shardadevi to believe that both Sheetal and Sahil are in love with each other and want to get married. Meghnath is dead sure that with Governor behind him, he will be able to expand his business empire further with many more foreign collaborations.

Jaisingh Sinha sees an opportunity where he could with over Sahil’s heart and innocently Sahil’s engagement with Sheetal at Sahil’s Birthday party. Sahil gets outraged and furious because at the same time he was going to proclaim his love for isha. Sahil confronts his step father. Galore of abuses, heated arguments take place between step father and step son. Sahil makes a murderous attempt with birthday cake-knife on jaisingh but is timely stopped by shardadevi. Amongst the people present in the party are minister Goverdhan Tiwari (Prem Chopra) and corrupt Union Leader Vilasrao (Sharat Saxena). Both of them decide to make a correct use of situation for their ulterior political motives against the Governor.

On the next night Sahil goes to confront his step father but finds Governor jaisingh brutally stabbed to death. Sahil is shocked and worst comes when he finds himself accused of Governor’s murder. Sahil gets arrested and imprisoned for life sentence after the prosecution. Sahil manages a dramatic escape from the jail which creates wild panic amongst the police and politicians. A smart and headstrong police officer Udham Singh (Om Puri) is assigned to catch Sahil along with P.S.L. Neelkanth (Sadashiv Amrapurkar) and constable Pandurang (Ashok Saraf).

Now Sahil, left on his own is determined to find the killer of his step father and prove his innocence to the world. Obviously this is not an easy task. A wild chase starts with Udham Singh hot on the trail and fatal attempts by unknown assailant on Sahil’s life. Adding to the misery Sahil discovers many suspects who have reason to kill his step father for either personal or political interest.

And finally when the mystery unfolds, Sahil comes across a shocking and hidden truth which leads him to the real killer.
