"O holy Ganges! I pray thee, unite me with my beloved," this is the desire that cherishes in the heart of every young girl. Sumitri was also one of me, who dreamed of a happy life with Shyam. But destiny has its own ways.

The day came when Sumitri was dressed as a Dulhan, as a bride, for which she had wished so long. But as the stepped in to the house of her 'Saiyan', her husband, she has lost him-much before her time, she was a widow!! But who was responsible for this?
Shyam, well-educated son of Thakur Bachan Singh, who had assured Sumitri to accept her as his life-partner? Or greedy Bachan Singh, who did not hesitate in sacrificing the happiness of his only son, just for few thousands of rupees? Or Lakhan Singh, Sumitri's father himself who was a great drunkard and who for the sake of momentary happiness, has lost every real happiness of life?

We all live in this world-but some people just have to! Sumitri also had no desire to live, but she had to accept the things as they come. Now, she was all alone in this world, and she never desired for happiness in life-nor she got it.

And the day she incidently met somebody, who treated her as her own, where Sumitri could get some happiness of life, people in the Society pointed finger at her-"She is a matter of shame for the entire society." Shyam accused, "She betrayed him in the name of love". Bachan Singh said, "She has attacked on his name and fame." Lakhan Singh denounced. "His place is society in higher than that of Sumitri.

But, how all this happened and under what circumstances, is very beautifully and boldly told in "Ganga Miaiya Tohe Piyari Chadhaibo," a true to life film.
