The youth of a country is the mirror in which a nation can see its face. Chhalia holds that mirror for it is the story of india’s youth today tossed by the eternal question: Does the end justify the means?
Chhalia is the story of Shanker, Sunita and Amar
Shanker: An ordinary clerk in a big factory-his pay packet too small, his obligations in life too big-becomes Chhalia-moves about in fresh suits “borrowed” from a helpful laundry and sleek cars “borrowed” from a friendly garage owner, poses as a rich playboy and makes some big deals through pretty rich girls-believes the end will justify the means.
But does it?
Sunita: The owner of the factory in which Shanker works-hated by all her employees including Shanker whom she loves-to win his heart, poses as poor school teacher.
But does she win his heart?
Amar: The two faced manager of the factory-sweet in words, cruel in deeds-sympathises with workers-incites them to revolt and crushes them with an iron hand.
But Why??
?-??-???-AND THE ANSWER IS CHHALIA.
