Four giants join hands together to search out a lost treasure in a particular city. They rent a house-the upper storey and try to be friendly with the landlady, who is a widow. Actually, 20 years back, her husband, S.P. Raina, had brought the treasurer from Kishangadh but had confronted Daku Devi Singh on the way, got fatally wounded, kept the treasure in some gufa and returned home to die. The treasure was never discovered. Later Devi Singh attacked S.P. Raina's house and took away theiq only child Raju.
Now these four Maharathis have come to search out the treasure and they stay with Sharda Devi so that they can get some clues from her.
All the four are hardened criminals but her they pose as musicians. Police is on the look out for them and one of them confronts the Police and as he runs through the police firing he gets wounded. At the house Sharda Devi treats him like her own brother and he develops a soft corner for her. Similarly she serves all the four on one occasion or the other, and they become very fond of her. She even saves them from the police.
Phool (Tina) is a washer woman and comes to this house very often. She falls in love with Raju (Mithun), who is one of the four giants. The other three are John (Om Shivpuri) Ustad Suleman (Qadir Khan) and Prof. Shakti (Amjad).
Meanwhile Daku Devi Singh is released from jail and he also comes to the same area.
Finally four giants discover the treasure and when they were distributing the loot Sharda Devi comes and says all this treasure must go back to the Police, so that her late husband is cleared out. She commands them to be there, so that she can handover them to the Police. Now, they decide to kill her but when Raju comes down to kill her, he finds her to be dying, because Daku Devi Singh came and stabbed her and took away all the treasure. Moreover, then and there only Raju comes to know that he himself is the lost son of Sharda Devi.
What happens in the most dramatic climax, we will have to see "CHAAR MAHARATHI".
