This is the story of predictions, and beliefs in predictions of people whose moral fibres are strained against eventualities which, they believe, cannot be averted. The story of normal and basically nice people who are trapped by a dilemma created by their own desperate beliefs.

Nandu, having implicit confidence in his father's astrological pronouncements, is trapped in such a dilemma. All his actions, his plans, his love for Sushama, his marring Indu- all bear witness to the obsession that his father is never wrong, his father cannot be wrong.

But there are powers beyond the comprehension of human beings powers that forge the destiny of mankind, powers that influence predictions, both told and untold And as the lives of Nandu. Sushma and Indu are plagued with the uncertainty of the future, the astrologer fervently prays that he be proved wrong.

The hand of destiny takes charge and events swing back and forth towards an unexpected climax.
