Ashok Kumar and Kishore Kumar are two of the most influential figures in the history of Hindi cinema. One is arguably the first male superstar of the Mumbai film industry, while the other's infectious and inimitable energy has made him the stuff of legends. This day marks the birth anniversary of Ashok Kumar and the death anniversary of his younger brother Kishore Kumar. The two brothers were not only joined by their involvement in films, but also by a song. In 1936's Jeevan Naiya Ashok Kumar would sing Koi Humdum Na Raha, when Kishore was only five years old. 25 years later, Kishore Kumar would revive the song for Jhumroo (1961) after taking his Dadamoni's permission. Cinemaazi salutes the two brothers for their immense contributions to the art of cinema.
