When Ishwar Bidri passed away late last year, most newspapers described as the cinematographer of Andaz Apna Apna (1994). This description does a great disservice to the ouevre of a criminally underrated cinematgrapher. Working with J P Dutta in his early films like Ghulami (1985), Yateem (1988) and Hathyar (1989), Ishwar Bidri defined the way Rajasthan is shot in modern Hindi cinema.
