Among the great comedians of Hindi cinem, Asrani occupies a unique place. Very few actors had the talent to explore the nuances of their characters this well to elicit laughter. He could take inspiration from things unheard of to create memorable characters. Beginning as a student and later teacher at FTII, Asrani went on to be an integral part of some of the most unforgettable classics of Hindi cinema like Mere Apne (1971), Guddi (1971), Bawarchi (1972), Aaj Ki Taaza Khabar (1973), Sholay (1975), Chhoti Si Baat (1976) and many more.
