There are many films which go unnoticed as they released around the same time as other popular films. The classic sitcom Aaj Ki Taaza Khabar (1973), based on the Gujarati play Chakdol, was one such film. Despite its strongly misogynistic overtones, the film played around with stereotypical sitcom tropes. It introduced one of the most memorable fictional characters in Champak Bhumiya which led to some hilarious moments. In the process it also set the template for some modern day sitcoms like Rohit Shetty's Golmaal Returns (2008).
