20 Aug, 2020 | Cinemaazi Studio with Gautam Chintamani
Amitabh Bachchan's career in the late 80s was a far cry from his heydays in the 70s. After three back to back flops in Jaadugar (1989), Toofan (1989) and Main Azad Hoon (1989) it seemed like the days of the Angry Young Man were numbered. Enter Mukul Anand and Kader Khan, with a role that has become part of popular film lore - Vijay Dinanath Chauhan. And the film was Agneepath (1990). Initially underperforming at the box office the film enjoyed a revival when it was announced that Bachchan had won the National Award for his performance. Since then it has become a cult film, even enjoying a big budget remake starring Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra. As the film completes 30 years, Cinemaazi and Gautam Chintamani take a look at what made Agneepath the perfect vehicle for the Bachchan comeback to begin.
