This is the story about two very good friends Ravi and Ajay.

Ravi runs a garage in Bombay and Ajay comes to him after finishing his higher secondary education from the village in search of a job so that he could support his old Maternal uncle. Ravi advises Ajay to study further but he does not want to be dependent on Ravi. Hence it is decided that Ajay will attend college in the day and work in Ravi's garage during his spare times.

In college Ajay confronts with a rich-brow girl Manisha who is also a student of the same class. She is the daughter of a rich, renowned barrister Vikas Anand. During his confrontations with Manish one after the other, they have romantic interludes which lead them to the decision of marriage.

Manisha invites Ajay to meet her father and also sends him some gifts. This hurts Ajay's ego. Ajay meets Manisha's father and tells him that he cannot marry her until he becomes a rich and of equal status. This stunts the barrister, for he had heard a lot about Ajay and had started admiring Ajay's guts. He tries to persuade Ajay, but he is adamant and wants to grant him a period of three years to achieve his goal. Barrister is convinced and agrees to wait for him. Ravi supports Ajay in his mission to the hilt. He sells his garage, village house etc. and shifts to Nasik along with his old Mother and Ajay. They take government loans, start a factory and within two years they practically achieve their goals except some loans to be repaid to the government. In the meanwhile Ajay persuade Ravi, for sake of old mother to marry Jyoti. On the other hand Manisha notes the achievements of Ajay and Ravi and is happy to feel that the assigned period is coming to an end.

At this juncture an evil figure Kundan appears on the scene. He wants to marry Manisha to swindle her property. He is the son of barrister's old friend Bhagwandas. Since Manisha does not like Kundan, his dream appears to be futile. He then designs to some evil plans to destroy Ajay and Ravi. He is successful in his mission through the help of Ravi's brother-in-law drunkard Shanker. Ajay and Ravi get seperated. Ajay becomes pauper again, is not in a position to go to Manisha and ask her hand. In the meantime misfortune falls upon Manisha. She is fed with some misunderstanding against Ajay and she in fit of anger and frustration, decides to marry Kundan.

Thereafter what happens, how Ajay and Ravi unite, how Ajay and Manisha reach the alter of marriage, can be seen on the Silver Screen.
