HOGI PYAR KI JEET is the story of two families, one of Thakur Gajendra a landlord who is a terror in the village and the other of Surjeet a poor but self respecting farmer.

Thakur has acquired all the land from the farmers to build his dream factory excepting that of Surjeet who refuses to bow down to the Thakur. Thakur's brother Manjeet loves Surjeet's sister. When Thakur comes to know of this, he fixes Manjeet's marriage to another girl. Surjeet goes to Thakur's Haveli to beg for his sister's love. Thakur humiliates him, forces him to transfer his land in return for his sister's love and finally kills him, his wife and elder son. Before dying Surjeet takes a promise from his sister that "You'll bring up my son and make him marry the Thakur's daughter with the Thakur's wishes. You'll make the Thakur to beg for this match. You'll make him to arrange this marriage and bless it. That will be my revenge. Only then will my soul rest in peace." Aunty makes this promise the mission of her life and brings up the son who grows up to be Arshad Warsi-who is a natural flirt. He comes across Mayuri Kango a very brash rich college girl. They both are out to show each other down.

Arshad throws up a challenge to her that he will kiss her within 24 hours. A feat which he manages to achieve through deceit Mayuri is furious and so is Aunty who comes to know of this incident. She forbids Arshad from coming contact with any girl. Arshad promises to do so. When Mayuri gets to know of this she takes advantage and makes Arshad's life miserable by teasing & seducing him knowing that he can't break his promise to Aunty. This leads to a number of rip-roaring incidents.

On the other hand we have Raju (Ajay Devgan) a village bumpkin, a real simpleton who's smitten by city educated Meena's (Neha) beauty and dreams of her. Meena who is Thakur Manjeet's (Prithivi's) niece falls in love with the simple & human ways of Raju (Ajay). She pursues him relentlessly and through very hilarious situations brings him close to her and finally makes him accept her love. In the city as fate would have it Arshad & Mayuri falls in love. Aunty comes to know of this & tears him away from Mayuri. She tells him the flashback & the promise to Arshad's father. She shows him Neha as the girl that he has to marry. Arshad after knowing the past promises to fulfill his father's wishes & breaks away from Mayuri.

In the village Ajay comes to know that Neha is Mohan Joshi's daughter & his memories from the past come back. He recalls how his family was killed by Thakur, how he escaped from the fire & was saved by Tiku. He decides to finish Mohan Joshi to avenge his family even at the cost of his love. Ajay sets out to kill Mohan Joshi and Arshad on his mission to kidnap & marry Meena (Neha). The two cross each other's path, confront, fight & finally get together to achieve their objectives and fulfill their father's wishes. All unites happily.
