A tabla maestro, Bholanath Shrestha's major contribution to Indian cinema is his work on one of the greatest songs ever recorded, the etheral Aayega aane wala from Mahal (1949).   

Born on 17 June, 1924, Bholanath Shrestha received his tutelage in tabla under the best masters in Benares and Kolkata. He later started working in the industry, most notably working on the legendary song which truly announced the arrival of Lata Mangeshkar as a singing superstar. He also worked with Kishore Kumar for a long time. Later in his career he started working on ad films. 

The master instrumentalist passed away on 11 April, 1971.
