Prof. Krishnanand heads the Department of Sociology in Degree College. He is a widower and the beautiful, simple, and life-loving Pooja is his only daughter. He is not only the father of Pooja but is also her friend.
Krishnanand is a very aware man and a great fighter. He is total opposed to the dowry system and he is fighting a battle against this social sin.
Radha, a lecturer in Law in the same college, admires him for his courage and has also joined him in his crusade against dowry. Radha is young and beautiful and strong-headed. And therefore, when at the time of her marriage to a brilliant lawyer, the father of the bridegroom demands some more money she decides to tell her would be husband that she is not ready to accept him as her husband and that he may go to hell. Her father could not face this humiliation and commits suicide.
Radha gets all the moral support from Krishnanad and she opens up a cell to help the unfortunate girls who are being ill-treated by their in-laws.
At this point, the story takes a dramatic turn. Pooja is married into a well-to-do family. Her husband is in construction business. Obviously it was decided before the marriage that there will be no dowry.
But then Pooja's in-laws start creating situations and Krishnanand has to come forward to bail them out...
This emotional blackmail would not have ended but it so happens that one day Pooja learns that her inlaws are not that innocent and that they have their eyes on the property of her father and they want to have it by hook or by crook. She flares up and tells them she is going to expose them. They decide to kill her. She is burnt alive.
Krishnanand goes to the Court to get justice. But the law has its own limitations. It is bound by the witnesses and so on and so forth ... The in-laws are acquitted.
But Krishnanand knows that his daughter was murdered and therefore he is not prisoner of the law of Evidence. And, therefore, he decides to take the matter into his own hands.
