The tale revolves around two one-time pals turned foes, Shamsher Singh (Danny Denzongpa) and Surajbhan Singh (Amrish Puri). But love knows no barriers and as luck would have it, Madhu (Karisma Kapoor), Shamsher Singh's daughter, falls in love with Surajbhan Singh's son, Raja (Ajay Devgan), unaware of the existing enmity between the two families. Raja though, is in love with a village belle, Pallavi (Ayesha Julka). Meanwhile, Shamsher Singh and Surajbhan Singh clear all misunderstandings. They want Raja and Madhu to tie the knot but when learn about Raja's love for Pallavi and his intention of marrying her; they receive a rude shock, so does Madhu. Shamsher Singh swears to revenge this insult. Pallavi has to undergo a lot of pain and torture.

Thus begins the struggle, the battle for love in the cross fire of hate.

To be a witness to it, you will have to view Lawrence D'souza's 'SANGRAM'.
