Kishan and Bhola, two incorrigible young men, are expelled from the city college. They return to their village after trying in vain to gain admission elsewhere. They lie to their illiterate fathers about having passed their examinations. Kishan falls in love with the village belle Jeeto. He woos her successfully, and eventually wins her over. However, the village ruffian Dharmu is also in love with Jeeto. He is enraged by their growing intimacy.

Meanwhile, Bhola is engaged to his beloved Taro after many capers with her father. Failing to malign Kishan, Dharmu challenges him to a fist fight in the Baisakhi Mela. Kishan defeats him, and Dharmu is forced to shave off his mustache. Seething with rage, Dharmu plots to do away with Kishan with his friend Govinda, a fugitive. A fight ensues between the three, and Govinda is killed. Seizing this opportunity, Dharmu convinces Jeeto’s father Hari Ram to promise her hand in marriage to him. Ultimately, things fall into place and the real culprits are apprehended by the police.
