Rani Kaushalyia Devi, the Ruler of a state, treated her State Administrator Dewan Vikram as good as her own son. She would like to bind him into the fold of Royalty by arranging his marriage with Princess Priya. But he had already bound himself into the love of a dancer named "Kesar". Even both of them had actually got married quietly in witness of God. When the Queen came to know of this undeclared marriage, she immediately arranged the Royal Wedding of Vikram and Priya. Dewan Vikram could not defy the royal order of the Queen mother because he had given his word of honour to his dying father that whatever may happen, he would carry out the wishes of the Queen.
The pregnant Kesarbai gave birth to a baby girl but was banished form the courts. In very adverse circumstances when she had nowhere to turn a young man named Suraj came to her rescue. She did not know Suraj was the silent worshipper of hers since childhood.
Renu, the daughter of Kesarbai grows up into a beautiful maiden studying in the same college where the only son of the Queen was studying. Renu and Kanwar fall in love madly. It is a case of love between a prince and a commoner. History repeated itself and the crucial stage came. The palace from where Kesar was once thrown out is to be inhabited now by her daughter Renu as the princess, or else the prince, the only son of the Queen shall abdicate and leaves the palace for Renu's sake forever.
To know the solution of the conflict, it is an experience to see "GHUNGROO" on the Colourful Cinemascope Screen.
