This is the story of selfless Love of two love birds - Love birds of this story are Sapana (Kanchan) and Shankar (Anupam).

Sapana's father, Omprakash Harjai (Pran) is an illiterate but a rich man. While Shankar's father K.K. Baxi (Kiran Kumar) is well educated, very rich and belongs to high society.

This difference of 'Status' becomes the biggest hurdle in the romance of Sapana and Shankar.

When Harjai meets Baxi to propose for Sapana's marriage with Shankar, Baxi throws him out of his house saying that the daughter of an uneducated, ill-mannered fellows like you have no place in my house.

Shankar goes to Harjai's house with his friends to ask for Sapana's hand from him but in the rage of revenge Harjai shoots him - Sapana becomes mad after seeing this.
