The serene atmosphere of the village turns into one of cliff-hanging suspense and tension as Shyam, the stepson of a widow tea planter Nirmaladevi is found dead by Lukki, the woodcutter. But to the surprise of the villagers, the see a dead bear instead of Shyam's body when they search the spot of the supposed murder. Nirmala Devi did not hesitate to take the rumour with a pinch of salt because she was used to Shyam's habit of being away from home for many days at a stretch.

Blood samples from the scene prove that it is human blood and further inquiries lead the police to conclude that Nirmaladevi was not on good terms with Shyam and it also throws light on the affair she was having with another estate owner Mishra.

Meanwhile, Prakash, a stranger identifying himself as a friend of Shyam, visits the village and is asked to wait for some days since no one could give a clear idea of what happened to Shyam. Gangu, Nirmala's servant reveals the rumour of Shyam's death to Prakash.

Prakash comes across Roopa, the daughter of Dani (another estate owner), her little friend Koku and her old servant Gopalkaka who always keep an eye on Prakash.

Falling for bribe Gangu reveals Shyam's life and his quarrels with Nirmaladevi on the preceding day to the rumor of murder and about Mishra's intentions, who in fact is after Nirmala's wealth.

Roopa and Prakash get to know each other better, and acquaintance which transforms into love. But unexpectedly things go awry as Prakash comes across revealing photographs of Roopa and is later shocked to find his room searched by someone unknown, the mystery deepening minute by minute.

Then, one night Prakash sees a lonely figure moving in the jungle with a burning torch heading towards a haunted; abandoned house. He follows it and as he enters the house the shocking mystery of the murder starts to unfold.

Who was the murderer? What happened to Prakash and Roopa? Did Shyam return? What was the stunning secret that the moppet Koku withheld?

BE-SHAQUE deciphers all the above puzzles in a spine chilling climax in one of the most unusual and spellbinding entertainers ever presented on the Indian screen.
