Peshori Mal and Pindi Dass belonged to Peshawar but circumstances forced them to migrate to Lucknow and get themselves established there. Peshori Mal had two daughters Anjana and Bimla. They were brought up nicely and given good education. Although Peshori Mal belonged to old school of thought, he believed in giving modern education and freedom to his daughters. He used to say "as we old people cannot change our old thoughts and habits we cannot change the modern habits of our children." But he was very strict in one thing that he did not allow his daughters to mix with theatre people.

Once, both the sisters got a chance to visit Delhi to appear in their University examination there. Deepak Theatre was very famous in those days and a handsome artiste Deepak was very popular on account of his excellent performance. Bimla was very fond of theatres and artistes from her childhood and she forced Anjana to accompany her to see a drama staged by Deepak Theatre. Bimla was very much impressed by Deepak's performance and beauty. She went to see Deepak in his make-up room after the show was over. Instead of meeting Deepak, she met idiotic Prakash, the theatre Manager, who was at that time rehearsing in the costume of Deepak. She mistook him to be Deepak and praised him and his performance in the show. Prakash took advantage of this situation and promised her to give heroine's role in his theatre.

After some time, Anjana and Bimla returned to their home and also Deepak Teatre came to Lucknow. When Anjana came to know that Bimla that Bimla had fallen in love with Deepak, she was astonished and furious. Before Anjana came to know this fact she has already met Deepak on Delhi Railway Station. She had also taken him to her house at Lucknow and introduced him to her father but did not tell him (her father) that Deepak was a theatre artiste. Peshori Mal liked Deepak and betrothed him to Anjana. The secret could not be kept long. Peshori Mal came to know from some reliable sources that Deepak belonged to theatre. He at once renounced Anjana's marriage with Deepak. Suraj, a bad character of the city and rival of Deepak was very happy at this incident and tried to win over Peshori Mal for the hand of Anjana in marriage. Peshori Mal wanted to take revenge on Deepak and when the former reached Deepak's house, he saw Suraj and his two men already present there. Suraj and his men took both Deepak and Peshori Mal in custody.

Anjana got them free but how? Did Suraj kill Deepak and Peshori Mal? We leave it to you to guess all this and the rest of it!
