The most potential of all human urges is to love and to be loved in return - Raju, a young ambitious motor mechanic around town is stricken by this desire when incidentally he meets a young and bewitching damsel Sheela. His joy knew no bounds, when Sheela also shows an affectionate attitude towards him. In a very short span of time, he is completely swept away by her love for him. Thus the two become very fond of each other. Outwardly each believed that the other was well to do. Though on many an occasion Raju being quite earnest, wanted very much to tell her the truth, about his poverty, but the heart is deceitful above all things. He could not tell her until it came out by itself, when the story of this film moved at a rapid pace and quick succession of strange events followed one another to a mounting suspense culminating in a great denoument what follows is too fast for words.

Madan Mohan’s music resounding every echo of the human heart-Majrooh Sultanpuri’s songs superb in expression unite to produce haunting melodies which will captivate the hearts of music lovers. Hilarious comedy action of Johnny Walker, fast choreographic movements of Meenu Mumtaz, crisp dialogues of Dev Krishan, imaginative photography of R.L. Nagar, the beauty and grace of Nutan, the dash and aplomb of Shekhar and above all slick direction of Mahesh Kaul  make "AAKHRI DAO" a surprise packet of the year.
