Her name was Chandan. She was young and beautiful. Like all young people Chandan did not like to be bossed. She was convinced that all parents are orthodox bullies and miserably ill-equipped to understand youngster’s problems. Chandan’s teachers and class-mates not only disowned her but when a false gossip in the town stirred up a sizable scandal they behaved in a most irresponsible way. Her mother started fast until death and father failed to guide or protect her against the scandal. Desperate Chandan ran away from home in search of self-expression in the free air of the outside world.

Chandan met a young engineer, a moral coward, who raped her even though he was married and had two children. Chandan wanted to marry him but the coward man found an escape in death.

Chandan came to Bombay and became “PRIYA”, only to realize that a “free” woman cannot exist safely in the man’s wolf-world.

“PRIYA” is a story of our angry youngsters who are left helpless and lonely by their parents, their teachers, their religion and the society at large. “PRIYA” poses many problems through many representative characters who are living around you. In short “PRIYA” is the Kaleidoscope of the present day life.
