What would you do if you found yourself most unexpectedly saddled with a case full of precious diamonds? Would you believe it to be a gift of the Gods? An answer to an earnest prayer for riches? Or would you do your best to restore the gems to the rightful owner?

That is Shekhar's dilemma. He is a motor mechanic who labours hard to earn a decent living. On the side, he and his assistant Birju are not averse to a spot of speculative gambling with the fond hope of becoming rich overnight. They rely on the number plates of the cars to present them with a winning combination, but it doesn't work.

Into their life steps a runaway, Kanchan, whose guardians are offering ten thousand rupees to anyone restoring her to them. Shekhar and Birju befriend Kanchan with the intention of claiming the reward, but the ways of true love are strange indeed. By the time Kanchan's uncle arrives on the scene, Shekhar is no longer interested in losing her, now the love of his life. The uncle brings out the cash to fulfil his offer but Kanchan abruptly announces that as she has already become Shekhar's wife, it is too late! Her uncle accepts the inevitable, laying the way open for Shekhar to make his marriage with Kanchan a reality, a culmination of their deep love and desire.

In the fulness of time, the supremely happy couple are blessed with an adorable son. The only disturbing factor in their married existence comes in the shape of Shekhar's unflagging hopes of hitting the jackpot and becoming rich one day.

A childhood friend of Shekhar leaves the brief case in his care, only to be killed as he steps outside the garage. Kanchan entreats Shekhar not to have anything to do with the brief case or it's contents but Shekhar refuses to let such an opportunity slip by.

The brief case and the contents bring in their wake untold dangers and problems culminating in the kidnapping of Kanchan and her young son by a gang of desperate criminals. How Shekhar rescues his beloved ones, and what eventually happens to the diamonds is unfolded on the screen in the tension-packed climax of searing emotions.
