Cinemaazi remembers the legendary film journalist Badri Prasad Joshi on his death anniversary (16 August 2005). Unfortunately, we don’t have a photo of his in our archive.
Born in Madhya Pradesh, Joshi came to Bombay and associated with Trade Guide, the only weekly film trade magazine during 1950s. He later joined Hindi Film Weekly Cine Vani as editor and worked with it till 1974. Operating from iconic Naz Cinema building near Grant Road, which used to be hub of dream merchants, financiers, producers, directors, actors, Joshi saw many facets of the Hindi film industry as a journalist, editor, writer, production designer.
He was an abundant source of information and many editors and journalists were knocking on his doors for information. He happily obliged all.
He authored two books on cinema - ‘सिनेमा : एक सुनहरी यात्रा - जन्म और विकास' and 'सिनेमा - यादें और अनुभूतियाँ'. Both the books are a compilation of writeups, interviews and tidbits written on different occasion by him.
