Film lyricist Noor Lakhnavi—also known as Krishn Bihari Noor Lakhnavi—was a popular poet, and a fine exponent of the language and culture of Lucknow. He is known for penning songs such as Duniya mein jina hi padega, Mohabbat hi na jo samjhe woh zalim pyar kya jane, Kya humse hua kasoor, Us dil ki bhala taskeen ho kya, Yeh dil ki dhadkanon se khabar pa rahi hoon, Chanda ki chhaon mein, Apni naakaami se mujhko kaam hai, and Gaya andhera hua ujara chamka chamka hua subah ka taara, among others. He wrote the lyrics for songs in films such as Gumasta (1951), Parchhain (1952), Hyderabad Ki Nazneen (1952), Anand Bhavan (1953), Subah Ka Tara (1954), Chhora Chhori (1954), penning approximately 30 songs in the course of his career. Known for his ghazals in literary circles, among his noted works are Dukh-Sukh, Tapasya, Samandar Meri Talash Mein, Hussainiyat Ki Chaaon Mein, Tajjalli-e-Noor, and Aaj Ke Prasidh Shaayar. 

He was born Krishn Bihari at Gauss Nagar, Lucknow on 8 November, 1926. He did his basic education at home, and was later enrolled at a high school in Aminabad (UP). On completing his graduation from Lucknow University, he got employed in the RLO department of Lucknow. 

A disciple of Fazal Naqvi, Noor Lakhnavi was proficient in both Urdu and Devanagri scripts. He was famous for his ghazals in literary circles. His noted works include, Dukh-Sukh (Urdu), Tapasya (Urdu), Samandar Meri Talash Mein (Hindi), Hussainiyat Ki Chaaon Mein, Tajjalli-e-Noor, Aaj Ke Prasidh Shaayar (edited by Kanhya Lal Nandan). 

Penning lyrics for Hindi films, he collaborated with music directors such as C Ramchandra on Parchhain and Subah Ka Tara, and Vasant Desai on Anand Bhavan and Hyderabad Ki Nazneen. His songs were rendered by leading singers of the day. Lata Mangeshkar sang several of his songs including Ye dil ki dhadkano se khabar pa rahi hu main, Sune zamane ke taane, Us dil ki bhala taskeen ho kya, Ye dil ki dhadkano se khabar pa rahi hu main, and Kahi khushi kahi gham ke chirag, while Talat Mehmood also sang his creations like Duniya me jina hi padega, Keh rahi hai raat Andheri, and Apni nakami se mujhko kam hai

Noor Lakhnavi passed away while undergoing an operation at a hospital in Ghaziabad on 30 May, 2003.
