Tamil actor, author and script writer, Javert Seetharaman also called Javar Seetharaman, was born N Seetharaman in Tiruchirappalli, Madras Presidency. A lawyer by profession, he was keen to pursue a career in films. He thus joined Gemini Studios. He came to be known as Javert Seetharaman after his memorable portrayal of Inspector Javert, the fictional character from Victor Hugo’s Les Miserables. Seetharaman had essayed the role in the Tamil film Ezhai Padum Padu (1950), which was directed by K. Ramnoth. He acted in multiple Tamil films such as Miss Malini (1947), Panakkaari (1953), Andha Naal (1954), Kumara Raja (1961), Aadi Perukku (1962) and Ramu (1966). He also essayed the role of Major Bannarman in Veerapandiya Kattabomman (1959) starring Sivaji Ganesan. Seetharaman had also written stories for magazines.

He wrote the scrips of several Tamil films such as Andha Naal (1954), Anandha Jodhi (1964) and Uyamdha Manitham(1968). Andha Naal, a mystery thriller starring Sivaji Ganesan, is another feather in his cap. The film had no songs and dance. 

Javert Seetharaman also wrote a few Hindi films, including Paisa Ya Pyaar (1969) which he also produced and directed starring Ashok Kumar, Biswajeet, andTanuja, Bhai-Bhai(1956), Shaadi(1962), Aadmi(1968), Suraj (1966), and Do Kaliyan (1968). He won the Filmfare Award for Best Story for Main Chup Rahungi(1962), directed by A. Bhimsinghand produced byA.V. Meiyappan, starring Meena Kumari and Sunil Dutt in lead roles. The film was a remake of Kalathur Kannamma (1959), a popular Tamil film which had Gemini Ganesan, Savithriand Kamal Haasanmaking his debut as a child artiste. Seetharaman produced good work in cinema till 1970. He passed away in Chennai in 1971.
