Dharmanand Vernekar has directed and produced many short films, ad films and features. Always interested in cinema, he was an avid watcher of classic black and white films from childhood. In college he wrote plays and participated in intercollegiate contests, winning many awards. Some notable short films made by him are Khandan ka Chirag, Looking Back 50 Years, Goa Marches On, Fast Patrol vessel, Damage Control Simulator, Towards A New Horizon, Mechanical Ore Handling Plant, The Tides of Change, Dhawal Kranti (White revolution), Atmaghat (Suicide), Vanshvel (Genealogy), Mhoji Kanni (My story), an educational documentary on  AIDS , Viva Goa, The New Horizons, The Adil Shah Palace, The Green Gold, Solaris, Flow of Prosperity, Shreyarthi (A short film on Padma Bhushan Ravindra Kelekar), MARG, and Sobit Amchem Goem (Beautiful is our Goa). He produced and directed the Marathi feature film Gadya Aapla Gaon Bara (2013). He has also handled the Konkani telefilm Daulat (Wealth). He has assisted the famed editor Waman Bhonsle and the famed photographer K. Vaikunth in production and direction. He has also attested Hindi writer Kamaleshwar in Hindi TV series Akashganga. He was the associate director for the Hindi film Sanam Sath Na Chodo along with Chandan Thakur. He was also the chief assistant director for the Marathi film Hicha Kai Chukla. He has also directed TV serials and telefilms like Yatra (Travel), Yugandhara (Everlasting), Khatra (Risk), Fakt Eka Rupaya Satthi (Only for a rupee), Chakar pe chakar (Visit over Visit), and Mahabali (Powerful).

He was the associate producer and director for the Marathi film Shodh. In journalism he has produced an anthology of Marathi poems entitled Bouganvilla and an anthology of Konkani poems entitled Lharam (Waves). Mhozo Ganv Mhojem Goem (My place my Goa) is the dubbed version in Konkani of his Marathi film Gadya Aapla Gao Bara. This film is a tribute to the liberation of Goa.  He has recently directed a DVD on the occasion of the 125th Anniversary of the tiatr - a unique form of Konkani drama.
