Abanish Bandopadhyay (Banerjee) is an actor known for his work in Bengali films such as Komal Gandhar (1961) and Subarnarekha (1965), both of which were directed by Ritwik Ghatak.

The Ritwik Ghatak-directed Komal Gandhar saw him essay the character Bhrigu. Written by Bijon Bhattacharya, Sukanta Bhattacharya and Salil Choudhury, the film sharply scrutinised the part played by progressive art and artists in a society that is undergoing change. The cast included Supriya Choudhury and Anil Chatterjee.

In the drama film Subarnarekha, directed by Ritwik Ghatak, he played the character Hari Babu. Written by Umanath Bhattacharya, Ritwik Ghatak and Radheshyam Jhunjhunwala, the plot revolved around a man (Abhi Bhattacharya) who opposes the love between his sister and the orphan (Satindra Bhattacharya) who had been adopted by the family many years earlier. The film starred Madhavi Mukherjee, Bijon Bhattacharya and Abhi Bhattacharya. 

Other films he acted in include Barnachora (1963), directed by Arabinda Mukhopadhyay, the Sree Jayadratha-directed Agnibanya (1964), Ramdhakka (1966) directed by Taru Mukhopadhyay, and Anya Mati Anya Rang (1971) directed by Ramprasad Chakraborty
