Cinemaazi remembers legendary singing star of 1930s and 1940s, Surendra Nath, also Known as Surendra, on his death anniversary. Discovered by Mehboob Khan, he made his debut with the film Deccan Queen (1936) which established him as a singing star of immense potential. Some of his greatest performances were in films like Jagirdar (1937), Gramophone Singer (1938), Seva Samaj (1939), Aurat (1940), Garib (1942), Anmol Ghadi (1946), Elan (1947) and Anokhi Ada (1948). When the era of singing star came to an end, he shifted to character roles in later career of his life. He gave memorable performances in Baiju Bawra (1953), Mughal-e-Azam, Milan (1967), An Evening in Paris, and Waqt.
