NIRANJAN, the son of Sir RAJENDRA, a millionaire, was deeply in love with SHARDA, the daughter of a poor Pujari. shambhu, an inmate of the temple, incites Sir Rajendra, against this, with the result that a showdown between father and son ends in Niranjan's leaving home with Sharda for Srinagar to try his luck. In the railway compartment, they contact friendship with a kindly old gentleman GYANU DADA and his little orphan daughter PRABHA. Dada offers Niranjan and Sharda the courtesy of his home and in a few days gets them duly married.

Shortly, Niranjan starts to join service in Haripur Mills. The train he travels by gets derailed and by the shock of that terrible accident, Niranjan loses his memory and runs in an insane condition into the jungles.

Seven years pass by. Gyanu Dada is dead. His daughter Prabha works as a teacher in a Balika Ashram, where MADHURI (the daughter of Sharda and Niranjan) is also sent. Sharda ekes out a living on tailoring. She never succeeds in tracing the whereabouts of her husband.

The insane Niranjan used to come to that Ashram where he was looked after by the humanitarian Head Mistress. He often sang and played with Madhuri, both least knowing their mutual relations.

Sir Rajendra and his second son PRAKASH (America returned) visit the Balika Ashram as new Trustees. Humorous incidents take place between the old man and little Madhuri, which begin with hostility and end in friendship. While Sir Rajendra's car was returning home, Niranjan sits behind on the carrier and enjoys himself by waving to Madhuri and others. Sir Rajendra's attention is drawn to 'somebody' sitting on the carrier. Prakash stops the car and beats the intruder least knowing that he was his brother. Niranjan escapes.

Prakash falls in love with Prabha of the Ashram. When she asks him to marry her, he falters. The disappointed Prabha resolves to end her life. Intelligent little Madhuri scents the danger and takes upon herself the task of saving the situation. Her enterprises in this direction run like whirlwind and how she manages to bring the chaotic situation to a sweet conclusion can better be seen on the screen than described.
