A retired colonel played by ANUPAM KHER is punished physically for his indiscipline by officer the major enacted by VINOD KHANNA. ANUPAM KHER remembers this ordeal all his life. Henceforth, before he indulges in any act of indiscipline, he restricts himself, thus, to start with, creating some of the hilarious scenes throughout the picture, his victim is usually his assistant JANKI DAS, who is intermittently thrashed.

The colonel is a widower and his only son RAVI BEHL who is a college student is in love with his class mate SHEEBA supposed to be the only daughter of a nurse BINDU.

Suddenly the colonel falls ill and BINDU is brought in the house-hold to look after him. Thus ensue most humorous episodes. In the process, the over-disciplined colonel falls in love with BINDU, creating a unique comedy rarely seen on screen. Eventually both ANUPAM KHAR and BINDU are madly in love with each other. As they are on the verge of marriage they learn to their shock that their son daughter are as desperately in love and are bent on marriage. The hilarious atmosphere suddenly changes into a dismal one, in spite of the soothing efforts put in by SHAMMI KAPOOR, who is featured as the friends, philosopher and guide to ANUPAM KHER.

The most disheartened and forlorn is ANUPAM KHER, and whether he commits suicide or goes mad, forms the climax of this musical extravaganza, wherein music by BAPPI LAHIRI and performance of ANUPAM KHER are the highlight.

The picture is presented by JANKI DASS, the industry's senior most active artiste, produced by his son SHANOO MEHRA and directed by AKASH DEEP who recently won International Cine-Tech Awards at Hon Kong, Singapore and London.
