Percy, an awkward young man of 28, lives with his mother, Banubai, in a Parsi colony in Bombay. He is completely trammelled by her domineering nature and a mindless daily routine. Percy works in a small dingy office while his mother supplements their income by preparing and selling Parsi delicacies.

One day in office, Percy discovers a fraud in the accounts and an employee is sacked. Percy finds his father's old gramophone and through music discovers joy and the richness of life. But his peace is soon shattered. The sacked employee takes his revenge. Percy is beaten up, his office ransacked and he becomes jobless. Help comes from a vision of his dead school friend. His mother suddenly dies, leaving behind a son to whom she has denied self-sufficiency. But there is hope that Percy will be able to cope with life.

About the Director:

The Director, Pervez Merwanji graduated as an Editor from the Film & Television Institute, Pune, in 1971.

Over the years, he has written, directed and photographed a large number of documentaries and short films. This is his first feature film.

Director's Statement:

This is not a film on the Parsis, though it is the first to be made in their dialect. It is more universal in nature. It deals with feelings and explores the minds of its main characters. The past and present are interwoven into one flowing texture and the music becomes integral to the narrative structure.
