At the end of a lonely road stands the bungalow of the Brigadier. Two detectives Aira and Gaira, who are often mistaken for ghosts because of their weird hideout plans, try to keep a watch on the Brigadier’s movements but always fail miserably. They suspect the Brigadier of being an anti-national spy selling valuable information to the mafia.

The Brigadier’s daughter Roma is in love with Vijay and wants to marry him but is scared to tell her father. She is afraid of her father’s resistance to the union, since Vijay is from a poor family. Vijay is the son of Kandha Ram, who runs a shop selling materials required for cremation. One day Roma finally confesses the truth but lies about Vijay’s family, saying that they live in London.

Vijay – disguised as as his own father – turns up to meet the Brigadier. The two detectives, who are always lurking around the house, catch hold of Vijay later and blackmail him about revealing his identity if he refuses to help them find the truth about the Brigadier.

Vijay and Roma get married but their honeymoon is disrupted when the two detectives follow them. Vijay has no option but to covertly trail his father-in-law. To his shock, he discovers that the suspicions of the detectives are indeed true. Roma is annoyed at the strange behaviour of Vijay, who eventually has to reveal the truth to her.

The series of madcap events reach a culmination in the secret den of Number 1, the head of the anti-national operations. Much hilarity ensues as everyone comes together and it’s time for revelations – the biggest involving the Brigadier himself.
