Kishan is an honest forest officer posted at Rampur Village. Rampur is infested by men with the most evil minds imaginable. The leader of this Gang of villains is none other than a vicious looking Dayalu Seth. In addition to indulging in ll kinds of criminal acts, this Gang also kills animals for their skin and other valuables like ivory from the tuck of Elephants. Exploitation of the most inhuman kind and to the hilt in other words.
One day this evil Gang traps the baby of an elephant. The mother elephant does her best to save her child but when circumstances go beyond control she intuitively rushes to Kishan for help. Kishan rushes to the spot and rescues the baby elephant from the clutches of this Gang. Naturally enough, Dayalu seth threatens Kishan with the direst of the dire consequences. They become sworn enemies. In retaliation, Dayalu Seth gets Kishan's son kidnapped. The mother elephant sees this dastardly act being committed and follows the Gang. She is grievously injured by the Gang but nevertheless manages to feee Kishan and Jaya's child. Before breathing her last the mother elephant extracts just one promise from Kishan and his wife Jay - that they will safeguard the life of her only child.
In the meantime, Dayalu Seth phones the higher ups in the force and lodges a complaint against the forest officer Kishan who seems hellbent on making his and his group's life miserable. In fact, Dayalu Seth adds that Kishan has gone to the extent of killing one of his men. After putting the phone down Dayalu Seth calmly terminates one of his faithfuls and seals the case against Kishan. Kishan is imprisoned and a broken Jaya leaves for Bombay with her son. How the baby elephant whom Jaya left behind tracks her down to Bombay, is one of the most hilarious part of the film and indeed one of its many highlights.
There is another tract to this fascinating tale. Jugani is a beauteous damsel who lives in the same area where Kishan is posted. She is madly in love with Gopal. But Dayalu Seth and his gang throw a spanner in the works and break their beatific romantic world to pieces. They try to rape Jugani and when Gopal intervenes, he is brutally killed. Jugani's father is an eye-witness to the murder. Yet Dayalu Seth outfoxes him by procuring witnesses who testify to the contrary and pin the charge on Jwala, Jugani's father, on the grounds that he was unhappy with Gopal's involvement with Jugani. Recurring waves of severe shocks sends Jugani haywire. She becomes insane and waits implausibly impractically but endlessly for Gopal's return.
Kishan on coming out of prison is hog in pursuit of Dayalu Seth. Dayalu Seth makes a futile effort to rape Jaya which is watched by Jugani. Kishan is not alone in his mission. The baby elephant, Jaya and Jugani (who has recovered after she remembered what Dayalu Seth had tried to do with her after seeing his efforts with Jaya) all join hands and in a bitterly fought last battle succeeded in eradicating every hint and trace of evil from that area.
