(All characters and incidents in this story are fictitious. Any similarity that they might seem to bear to any person living or dead or to any incident that might have occurred, is purely coincidental.)
Two young lovers - Jagdish and Sheela - are aboard a train. Having failed to get their parent's consent to their marriage, they are eloping to Delhi where, on Independence Day, they will assert their right of self-determination by getting married.
The compartment next to theirs is occupied by an English lady, also bound for Delhi. Now that India is free, she cannot bear to live here any longer. On Independence Day, she hopes to catch an Aeroplane from Delhi and repair to London.
In the next compartment, there is a slightly built seth with his buxom wife. He too is on his way to Delhi, where he hopes to sell national flags and Khadi caps at several times the cost price. To him Independence Day is merely another opportunity to make easy money. But alas! His plans are frustrated by the antics of a carefree quack, selling peppermint and soap from compartment to compartment. While he is promenading along the footboard, his hat flies off, and since the country if free, he finds no reason why he should not exercise his rights by stopping the train to retrieve his hat. Promptly, he pulls the chain. The train stops and is consequently delayed. The passengers for Delhi miss a connecting train, and have to pass the night in the Waiting Room of a mystery-ridden station.
The Six of them - with the quack making the Seventh - witness the most confounding incidents ever.
The Station Master falls dead before their eyes; his dead body disappears! A strange, beautiful girl materialises from the dark night and goes raving mad.....And then the same mad girl springs upon them the biggest surprise of all.......
But wait till you see it all happen on the Screen..........
