Shantaprasad is a well reputed and upright businessman, who lives a contented life with his wife Kanta and child daughter Shalu at Delhi. But his life is disturbed when he suddenly suffers a setback in his business and incurs a heavy loss. He is forced to borrow huge sums of money from Dhanpat Rai, among others. However Shantaprasad disposes off all his property to repay his debt to Dhanpat Rai in time. But when he goes to Dhanpat Rai's bungalow with the money, DHANPAT Rai is murdered and Shantaprasad is entangled in it with all the circumstantial evidence against him. He is tried and sentenced to life imprisonment. His wife Kanta brings her daughter to Bombay.

Shantaprasad is released from prison after several years due to his good conduct, and he comes to Bombay in search of his wife and daughter. In Bombay Shantaprasad comes across his old friend, Inspector Singh, who joins in his search. Inspector Singh is entrusted with the job of locating notorious gangsters-Madan Varma and M.L. Gupta, who are black listed with the police.

Shantaprasad, after a series of happenings, meets his wife and now grown up daughter, who is an INSTRUCTRESS at a Dancing School. She is in love with Sumit. Shantaprasad and his wife Kanta approve of Sumiit and go to see his parents to propose the marriage of their daughter to Sumit. But when Shantaprasad discovers that Sumit's father, Madan Varma, is none other than the person who had fabricated him in Dhanpat Rai's murder, his burning desire for vengeance is rekindled and he disapproves of Shalu's marriage to Sumit. He straight away hunts for Madan Varma.

Meanwhile, Inspector Singh's son Vicky is murdered by Madan Varma and M.L. Gupta's men. And an enraged Inspector Singh starts hunting for the murderers of his only son.
