"ITIHAAS" is a historic saga of tow innocent lovers Karan (Ajay Devgn) Naina (Twinkle Khanna). Their tryst with several insurmountable obstacles, leave a blazing trial in the village, what is ruled by much worshipped landlord Digvijay Singh (Raj Babbar), but who is settled in the city. In Singh's absence, his trusted aide Balwant (Amrish Puri), who is none other than Karan's father, looks after the village affairs.

Digvijay Singh's younger sister Anjali Singh (Sapna Bedi) returns from abroad and together with her brother, visits the village. Here she befriends Karan, who takes her on a rural trip. On the other hand, Karan wishes to go to the city and upon Digvijay Singh's order, he alongwith his sweetheart Naina, migrates to the city.

Problems abound in the concrete jungle for the young lovers, and disgruntled, they decided to return to their roots. But their plans are thwarted by the city-sharks. Their rebellion and fight against the perpetrators of evil, culminates into a monument and stands as a tribute to true love - stirring spectacle that is to be seen to be believed.
